Hi and Welcome most of the members of this forum would probably have left Small Heath well before 1976 under the slum clearance program but I'll be going to the Central Library some time in the next week so I'll have a look at the Electoral Register for Green Lane, 1976. As regards the cinema there was never a cinema called "Moseley Green". There was The Moseley Picture House and Green Lane Picture House. I'm guessing it was The Moseley Picture House which was an Asian cinema by that time and was in, or close to, the area known as Moseley Green. I'll let you know if I find anything to help you at the library. Good luck with your search Best Wishes Jerry

I know Moseley and I know Moseley Village and I remember the Moseley Cinema in Balsall Heath close to the junction of Belgrave Road, but I never heard of anywhere called Moseley Green in Birmingham especially in the 70's.

I don't know Moseley well but there are references to Moseley Green on line and also Moseley Village Green. To get back to the point the Moseley Picture House is still the most likely candidate, especially since the Green Lane closed in 1957

Any info will be very much appreciated. I managed a quick chat with my elder brother, but I'm afraid we've drawn a blank. He remembers a Shabir Iqbal who was either manager or owner of the Walford Cinema - which used to show Asian films in the mid 1970's. And he also remembers a Khalid Mahmood who worked in Thurber Lighting. But that's about it. I think the main problem is that Iqbal (like Khan, or Hussain) would have been a fairly popular name in and around Small Heath in the 1970's. I was at the library yesterday and I checked the electoral Rolls for Green Lane 1976 and 1977 and surprisingly there was only one Iqbal listed and I don't think that's the one she's searching for. I don't think I can do any more but I have given her the contact details for Green Lane Mosque, there's always a chance that one of their older members might remember something. I did my best
