This sad picture is the cleared land after the demolition of The Birmingham Co-operate Dairy, Vauxhall Road.
Upon leaving school in 1961, the Birmingham Co-op was my first Employer.
The Head-Quarters of the West Midland Fire Service now occupy the site.

You missed a bit Wal, like how you single-handedly knocked down most of Brum, no wonder you are a Millionaire!!!

Hi Keith, That strike happened not long after I joined, like you, as an assistant roundsman.
My clock number was 434, later changed to 4314.
Before starting the round, we had tea & toast at the cafe on the Island opposite the White Towers Pub.
Happy, happy days....
Ray.

I actually did the Maths test to be a Milkman up at the Co-Op in High Street, but changed my mind. My Mate Vernon Bamber went on to be a Milkman and had his own Round around Garrison Lane. I used to go collecting with him some Saturday Afternoons. He left and had his own Window Cleaning Business for a few years. I think he is Secretary of The Brighton Club now. Wal.
