You may be thinking of Henshaw's house, Bernie (but then again, you may not ;D), which was pretty much opposite where Marlborough Road School is now. Great maps, those coloured Godfrey editions; got the Birmingham (East) one myself, only last week. A minor work of art for £2.95, and significantly different in content to the more familiar B&W 1901 version. As I write, Waterstone's (opposite the Rotunda) have 2 copies on their shelf. Other local(-ish) coloured editions (sadly not currently in Waterstone's) are:- Central Birmingham 1888 Birmingham (West) 1887 Edgbaston 1887 West Bromwich 1886 Bilston 1884 Dudley 1882 We take cheap colour for granted nowadays, with the coloured maps costing only £0.45 more than the B&W equivalent, but a footnote on my coloured map tells me that when these maps were originally produced, a B&W map cost 3/-, but the coloured version weighed in at a massive 11/6d - boy are we spoilt!

There was someone on the Birmingham Forum, recently, who originally claimed to have had a relative (with a wooden leg!) who ran a shop in 'Little Green Lane', but it was tracked down eventually to 157 or 175 Green Lane; maybe that was it.
