Alston Road Secondary Modern Boys School. This is the earliest picture of myself I own. Not a brilliant one, but worth waiting for, like Baker Street.
I was about 11 years old, top row on the extreme right.
I have no idea what the bright light is in the centre of the picture, sitting on the lap of Mr Wootten [ took us for woodwork I think].

In the early 60's, Micky Willis (I think that's him sitting on the ground on the far right-hand side) used to knock around the Green with the likes of Bob Palfrey, Barry Reeves & Patrick Nicholls.

Brian, the names don't seem to match the order in which they're lined up on the photo: which two are Franksie and Les Wiggall?

Hi Malc,
The names are upside down !
I am top row and last in line to the right.
Leslie was to my right.
Alan was to my left, but down a row.
If the old grey matter is still chugging correctly!
Ray.

Cheers, Ray! I don't think I ever knew either of them.

Noticed you were a good friend of planetmalc, but the other thing I noticed were that you hung about with Alan Franks [Millward Street] & Les Wiggall {Green Lane] !
I played footie all the spare time we had back then with Franksie and Les, including in the school {LGL} footie team....
What a small world.
Ray [bluenose].

Ray yes mate i knew Les and his family all my life, well up to about 18 when i moved out of Small heath, it seemed that we were allways playing footy on the black patch or in Small heath park in them days and i,m sure i played with Les for Haymills colts way back in the sixties ,i can;t even raise a gallop now but the cant take away my great memories of those days, as some one once said "memories are the photographs in your mind"
