Cheers, Pete. Are they still doing those talks/film shows at Yardley Library? Missed the talk last year due to work, but happy to go this year, but does anyone know the date, and is the talk about Small Heath ? Ray.

The one that Solihull are doing next Monday sounds like the same one I went to at Yardley Library. There's a very friendly atmosphere at the Yardley talks, Ray; it's like being round at a friends house with loads of other people - just about as informal as a public event ever could be and, yes, it's all about Small Heath & the Cov, on a photograhic journey from Sandy Lane to the Swan. They had one or two shots that I'd never seen on the Circle, but most of the views would be well known to us.

No, it sounds too much like the one I've already been to so I'll be giving it a miss. If it was 'Muntz Street Through The Years' though, things would be very different!

Hi folks went to Solihull last night and the Small Heath talk had been cancelled and replaced by a talk onEngin building at Boulton and Watts Soho works .They had no idea when or if the Small Heath talk would take place and the guy who does their website had died in the last two weeks and they can no longer access it . My sister does a bit of voluntary work at Acocks Green and Yardley libraries , she asked the woman who books the speakers up and there are no plans for a Small Heath talk in the near future . Debbie from the library did tell my sis that if a group wanted a talk on Small Heath you could set irt up yourself the room would cost around £40 and she said the women who do the talk charge around £20 and gave her their phone numbers so you would need at least 20 people at £3 per head to make it viable . Ray recons Joe and his mates would do the full monty in the interval providing the heating was on and their ASBOs had expired but thats not definite ..Seriously if there were enough people interested I would try to set it up

I'm sure that the two ladies in question could focus their talk around the areas of Small Heath & Bordesley Green that we knew so well. I would very much have liked to have been at the presentation on the Boulton & Watt Soho engine works. Perhaps your visit wasn't wasted? Pete

Pete It wasn't wasted Pete the guy who gave the talk was well informed and made it interesting but it wasn't what I went for and other forum members asked about the availibility of the Small Heath talk , thats why I posted the Solihull link in the first place Bernie

The presenters were using projection equipment - you'd need to know if that came bundled in with the room or if it was owned by the presentation ladies. I can't remember if they had a slide projector or whether it was an epidiascope to project prints. Prints would be easy, but slides of old views would probably need to be prepared for the talk (more expense). And then there's the tea & biscuits........... Do you really need all this at your age?
