My Dad got badly gassed while fixing a broken gas main when a bomb fell outside the Parkinson Cowan factory. He suffered from poor health afterwards, but still managed to live to 83.

Ref post #6: there are houses in the Anderton Road area (north side) that have that distinctive two-colour brickwork above the doors and windows, but I couldn't find an exact match for the properties in the photo so they may have been demolished since it was taken.
