I came across this in an old journal from 1876
Three boys, and a young man named Hodgetts, who attempted to save them,
were drowned, Jan 16, 1876, at Green's Hole Pool, Garrison Lane, through
breaking of the ice.

Jerry Jerry, a bit vague I know, but I have seen a map of the area with a farm marked where the tip was, and I am sure there were 2 large pools marked on it. If its any help the entrance was where about Venetia Rd is. Struck me at the time that the road through the tip was once the track up to the farm.

Hi Vince, that sounds very likely, maybe someone can come up with that map. When I've got more time I'll do some more delving
