Video of the famous tornado in 1931. Damage was more extensive than I had imagined.

The film opens with shots of damage to the south-west corner of the Coventry Road/Wordsworth Road junction in Small Heath and then travels back in time to show what the tornado did a few minutes earlier to a group of houses on the north side of Formans Road Sparkhill. It ends with views of another casualty on the oppposite side of the road to these houses - an Astons Ales off-licence (now a private residence) on the west corner of the Formans Road/Leominster Road junction. All of these properties were repaired and still exist today.

Thanks for the link! I have just bought a postcard with close-up damage to 543 (J J Woodgate's motorcycle shop), and have only just found out the damage was not caused by fire, but tornado. Awesome story.
