We lived in Mansel Road, and 20 years previous to you Bertram Boy, we had great fun on our roller skates. Hell for leather down the hill, grabbing the railings by the corner shop ( a shoemenders) to stop! Not so many bikes in the 1950s, but the boys all had home made carts with pram wheels and a rope to steer. I haven't the foggiest how they stopped those before hurtling ove Somerville Road! Not so many cars in those days though, as that photo indicates.

Jerry,
I see the site is not accepting images again, have you put a stop on them?

A couple of Photos of Bordesley Park Road near the junction of Bolton Road where the road does a right turn under the railway bridge. One is dated 1960 and the other 1970.

Some time back I posted the photo above to another thread, it being a photo of the first maisonettes built in Birmingham. At the time of the photo they were 122 years old and being discussed as the possible recipients of preservation orders. Apparently this never happened as they seem to have disappeared.

A nice Aerial view of Ada Road School and part of the Blues Ground sometime in the 70's I would guess.

An image of Cattell Road in 1960, not being a native of Small Heath I assume that it is looking down toward Coventry Road and that pub on the left is the Marquis of Lorne, but please put me right if I am wrong.
