For those who don't know, Photobucket have recently changed their terms and conditions without warning and it's causing mayhem across the whole Internet. Until now you could take any photo you have stored on Photobucket and embed a copy in any third party website of your choosing such as this one without charge. Now if you want to do that you'll have to upgrade to their most expensive plan which will cost you a staggering $400.00 a year. There's worse to come. They've made the charge retroactive so any photos you've ever downloaded to another site are now blocked and showing a Photobucket message. For this site it means I'll have to delete all photos that members have downloaded from there as and when I find them, so if you find photos disappearing that's why. I've already had to remove the main banner and some other photos and I'm sure I'll have to remove a lot more. the good news is that I've learnt from previous experience and I've now got copies of every photo on the forum so I'll be able to replace them all eventually. Yipes! Just when you think that things are going along smoothly, someone throws another spanner into the works. As a matter of interest for us technophobes, (I used to be a Silver Surfer but even that is disappearing!) how do you identify whether or not a photo has/is on Photobucket?
Regards Pete

Regards Pete Hi Pete We're talking about photos that people would have uploaded to Photobucket themselves. Along with hundreds of thousands or maybe millions of other Photobucket users I've now deleted my account and all photos. There are plenty of other free file hosting sites out there so I think Photobucket will be regretting that decision ere too long. jerry

I think the thread you posted it on had a pic by someone else that triggered the photobucket message and the message was appearing on all posts in the thread, not just photos. I think I've got to grips with it all now so hopefully you shouldn't have any more problems. If you do just let me know and I'll sort it Jerry

I've never been a great believer or fan of photograph hosting sites that offer to host your photos for free. Why would they want to do such a thing. I've always been of the opinion that such a thing would happen as all photos hosted by these sites disappearing if they suddenly withdrew this service. I am of the opinion that this was done maliciously and without warning in the hope that they would con people into paying their ransom demands. I have heard reports of how difficult it is to download your own photos back onto your own storage devices and the time that it takes. Also when if you delete them how sure can you be that they are gone?
Which prompts the question why would anybody want to use hosting sites when add on data storage is so cheap these days. I understand that action this will cause difficulty to sites such as this with limited image storage capacity if other image hosting sites follow suit. So It seems we are at the mercy of sites such as photobucket .
