I've just learned from Bernie's sister that he passed away on 9th February aged 68. He was one of the most prolific posters on the site having made well over 3,000 posts. With wide local knowledge and a keen sense of humour he'll be sadly missed.

Hi Jerry
I suspected that Bernie may have died.
He was a close friend & drinking pal during our teen years. I went on holiday with him & his family to Rhyll in the late 60's.
We lost contact until "Friends Re-united" was born, when we re-established contact and I introduced him to your site, which he enjoyed very much, as we all do!
I know that he had a number of problems with Big C and at the end of last year he came off chemo since it was causing too many other infections.
I've tried on a number of occasions since Xmas to e-mail him, (this week was my latest try) but received no reply, so I expected that the news wouldn't be good.
Bernie had a sharp wit & a great sense of humour. He was also a speedy right winger!!
I'll miss him. R.I.P. Bernie
Pete

Hi Pete Sad news indeed but given the fact that a lot of our members are advancing in years I suppose it's inevitable. I've identified another 3 or 4 members who were regular visitors and posters but haven't been on for some time. I wouldn't feel comfortable about emailing any of them because I don't know them personally and it seems intrusive to me to so I guess all we can do is wait for people to get in touch...or not Jerry
