Hi,
I'm new to the forum and I hope I am posting this in the right place?
Whilst carrying out some family history research for a cousin of mine I came across a Thomas Lyness that was killed at 43A Victoria Street, Small Heath on the 20th November 1940.
Does anyone know of any local records (I have Ancestry & Findmypast) that report on that night and maybe casualty record. Photos of the area would also be a help.
Thanking you all in anticipation
Norman

Hi Norman and welcome to the forum. smallheath.proboards.com/search/results?what_at_least_one=bomb+damage+green+lane&who_only_made_by=0&display_as=0The link above is for a photo of the bomb damage seen from Green Lane. Victoria Street was to the immediate left of these shops and 43a was behind them. You've got the date as 20th Nov but the caption on the photo says 28th Nov. Either way it's obviously the same incident. 43a and the other damaged properties were never rebuilt although the surviving shops in the photo were still standing and trading until a couple of years ago, when the whole corner was demolished.

Thanks Jerry, I have tried to find newspaper reports but (a has been mentioned on this site) there appears to have been a news ban.
Do you know of any local documents?
Thanks again
